Content File Specifications

Content File Specifications

To ensure smooth playback and optimal visual quality, it's crucial to follow the specified content guidelines for digital signage. This updated guide includes new specifications for both images and videos to help you prepare your content.

General Overview

The digital signage player will scale content to fit the screen without distortion, but it's important to match the aspect ratio to the screen for the best results. If the aspect ratio is off, your content might not display properly in full screen.

Images

  • File Format: Images must be in JPEG format for optimal performance.

  • Standard Screen Resolutions:
    - Portrait (9:16): 1080 x 1920 pixels
    -
    Landscape (16:9): 1920 x 1080 pixels

Warning
Avoid exceeding Full HD dimensions for best performance:
- Portrait screens: Maximum of 1080 x 1920 pixels
- Landscape screens: Maximum of 1920 x 1080 pixels
Images with resolutions lower than recommended will be stretched to fit, which may impact quality.

Videos

  • File Format: Videos should be in MP4 format with H.264 encoding and PAL standard.

  • Recommended Resolution:

    • HD 720P: This is the ideal resolution for digital signage on Android devices. It balances quality and performance across different platforms while ensuring reliable playback.
  • Resolution Guidelines:

    For Screens*

    • Portrait (9:16): 1080 x 1920 pixels
    • Landscape (16:9): 1920 x 1080 pixels

    For Tablet Screens*
    • Portrait (3:4): 768 x 1024 pixels
    • Landscape (4:3): 1024 x 768 pixels
  • Frame Rate: Use a frame rate of 25 fps (frames per second). This ensures smooth playback without overloading the player’s performance.

  • Video Bitrate:

    • Recommended video data rate: 2-4 Mbps (fixed) / 2000 - 3500kbps
    • Audio bitrate: 192 Kbps.
  • Video Title (how to name file)

    • avoid using symbols BANNED SYMBOLS: <, >, :, ", /, \, |, ?, and *  #, %, &, { }, $, !, ', ", @, +, `, and emojis
WarningAvoid using bitrates higher than the recommended levels, as they may unnecessarily burden the system, causing player instability or lag.
Ensure that your video adheres to the aspect ratio guidelines for the best full-screen display experience.

Important Tips for Optimized Content

  1. Consistency: Maintain consistent aspect ratios and resolutions to ensure smooth transitions between different content elements. A mismatch can result in display issues like black bars or cropped content.

  2. File Size: Keep your file sizes optimized. Large files may affect loading times and cause lag during transitions, especially for high-resolution content or videos with unnecessarily high bitrates.

  3. Platform Considerations: For Android-based signage systems, HD 720P resolution is ideal for the best balance between quality and performance. Avoid overloading the player with higher-than-necessary resolutions or bitrates.

  4. Testing: Always test your content on the signage player before final deployment to ensure smooth performance and visual integrity.

By following these guidelines, you’ll ensure your content is displayed with the best possible quality while maintaining system performance.
